About the Sharks
This project was born in 2023, founded by Fábio Santos at a time when he was forced to leave the pitch due to a serious injury he had that year. Unable to play, Fábio remained as present as possible at the various games he used to participate in or organize, staying connected with the friends he regularly met on a weekly basis.As he watched his colleagues from the sidelines, the idea slowly took shape: why not use this forced break to create and organize a football team with some of the players from the different groups he was part of? In the last quarter of 2023, the Tubarões de Matosinhos were born.
Over time, the Sharks gained momentum. New players joined, bringing talent and strengthening the team’s warrior spirit. What began as a group of friends passionate about football turned into a true family, both on and off the pitch.The arrival of Mister Nando marked a new chapter in our history. Under his guidance, the Tubarões de Matosinhos took on greater responsibility, reinforcing their commitment to playing beautiful, well-organized football. Always guided by our core principles – fair play, camaraderie, team spirit, and a structured style of play – we continue to grow, carrying our identity with pride in every match.Today, the Sharks are more than just a team; they are a symbol of unity, dedication, and love for the game. Inspired by the sea that surrounds us, it features a lifebuoy-shaped design, symbolizing resilience and the strong connection to our coastal city.At the center, the mighty Shark Ferran takes the spotlight, embodying the traits that define our values: strength, strategy, and resilience. On his forearm, he proudly displays a sardine tattoo, paying tribute to Matosinhos’ rich fishing traditions. Like any true shark of the sea and the pitch, he sports a gold tooth, a symbol of the grit and unbreakable spirit that drives us in every match.Every detail of our emblem tells a story. The name Tubarões de Matosinhos was born from the fusion of the bravery of the Matosinhos sea and the contemporary legend of Ferran Torres, player of FC Barcelona. Known for his grit and determination, Ferran embodies the spirit of a team that never gives up—just like the fishermen of Matosinhos, who face the waves of the Atlantic with courage.Founded by a group of friends passionate about football, the Tubarões de Matosinhos carry the pride of their city onto the pitch.
